Dr. Scaffidi

John Scaffidi, received his Bachelor’s in Science degree from Lehigh Valley’s prestigious Muhlenberg College with honors in both biology and psychology, and was awarded a coveted membership into Psi Chi, the National Psychology Honor Society in 1983. This was followed by a Master’s program in Applied Human Physiology while he participated in research with both the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Medical school followed at University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ at their leading medical center, Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, where he obtained his medical degree, again with honors.

Internship and residency followed at the nationally recognized St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, where Dr. Scaffidi culminated his training by serving as chief resident. During this time, he participated in research and published several papers on various topics concerning obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine as well as serving as both the state and national district III representative for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Since then, Dr. Scaffidi has been in private practice committed to training other professionals by teaching doctors, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. He has also extensively lectured on multiple topics in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, and bariatrics to physicians, nurses, and the general public, while furthering his education on a constant basis with the sole purpose of improving others’ lives and pushing new frontiers in patient care.

Dr. Scaffidi maintains board certification in both Gynecology and Medical Bariatrics.

Dr. Ailawadi

Maneesh Ailawadi, MD, FSSO, is an expert thoracic and bariatric surgeon at Lehigh Valley Weight Loss. Dr. Ailawadi has helped thousands of people achieve better health with weight-loss surgery.

Dr. Ailawadi received his bachelor of science in biology from the renowned Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He then went on to medical school at the Chicago Medical School located in North Chicago, Illinois. He remained in the Windy City to complete his residency at the University of Illinois/Mt. Sinai.

While at Mt. Sinai, Dr. Ailawadi received a grant from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and relocated to conduct research and publish papers in the area of surgical oncology and thoracic surgery. He then went on to complete his fellowship in thoracic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, one of the top medical facilities in the country. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Ailawadi gained extensive experience operating on both the stomach and esophagus.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Ailawadi went into private practice performing bariatric surgery, general surgery, and surgical oncology. Dr. Ailawadi enjoys sharing his skills, knowledge, and experience with students and colleagues through his training and lectures.
