Dr. Scaffidi


John Scaffidi, MD, is a board-certified gynecologist and bariatric surgeon at Lehigh Valley Weight Loss in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dr. Scaffidi takes great pleasure in providing his patients with high-quality integrative care.

Dr. Scaffidi received his Bachelor’s in Science degree from Lehigh Valley’s (Allentown’s) prestigious Muhlenberg College with honors in biology and psychology. He was awarded a coveted membership into Psi Chi, the National Psychology Honor Society, in 1983. 

Next, he accomplished a master’s program in Applied Human Physiology while participating in research with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

This was followed by medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in Newark, at their leading medical center, Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, where he obtained his medical degree again with honors.

Dr. Scaffidi completed his Internship and Residency at the nationally recognized Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, formerly St. Barnabas Medical Center, in Livingston, New Jersey. He culminated his training by serving as chief resident.

During this time, he participated in research. He published several papers on various topics concerning obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive medicine. He served as the state and national district III representative for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).

Since then, Dr. Scaffidi has been in private practice committed to training other professionals by teaching doctors, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. 

He has also extensively lectured on multiple topics in obstetrics, gynecology, and bariatrics to physicians, nurses, and the general public, while furthering his education on a constant basis with the sole purpose of improving others’ lives and pushing new frontiers in patient care.
