Let’s take a moment to talk about female intimate wellness: unfortunately, an impressive number of women suffer from conditions such as vaginal dryness, incontinence, and vaginal looseness. There are also women who are not comfortable with their vaginal / vulvar appearance and / or function. Without a doubt, these are all issues that are capable of negatively affecting someone’s health, sex life, and overall self-confidence. There are various solutions, some rely on surgical procedures that although are very effective, come with some discomfort and weeks of recovery and downtime. There is also another option that’s both effective and non-invasive, meaning no discomfort or recovery.

Non-invasive Vulvo-vaginal Procedures

Without the need of using invasive procedures of any sort, this treatment relies on radio-frequency in order to apply heat to the affected vulvar and / or vaginal tissues. Applied either internally or externally, this warming energy is capable of stimulating the production of collagen and increasing blood flow to these tissues. Being the main structural protein in your body, collagen is responsible for the elasticity, softness, tightness and recovery abilities that characterize young and healthy tissue. With more blood vessels being formed with the internal treatment, lubrication is enhanced as well. Increased collagen internally has also been shown to reduce urine leakage as well.

Is Vitalia Right For Me?

Every woman is different, and that also applies to their intimate health. For that reason, you might be wondering if Vitalia is capable of improving your own condition. The fact is that Vitalia is very likely to produce a great improvement of the following problems:

Vaginal loosening after childbirth and/or menopause:

Loosening of the vaginal walls is a very common problem, particularly for women who have given birth or have gone through menopause. By stimulating collagen production and increasing the elasticity of the vaginal tissues and their blood flow, Vitalia is capable of restoring natural tightness.

Dryness during intercourse:

Apart from lowering the pleasurableness of the experience, dryness during intercourse can lead to discomfort and even injury. Luckily, a few sessions with Vitalia are capable of restoring natural levels of moisture during the sexual act, enhancing the overall experience and greatly improving your sex life.

One of the most uncomfortable side-effects of the loosening of the vaginal tissue has to do with involuntary leakage because of sudden efforts such as sneezes, coughs, lifting or those caused by exercise.

No surgery – Whether they admit it or not, many people are afraid of surgery because it’s usually painful and carries some risk. Vitalia is completely non-invasive and painless.

No downtime – Because it’s completely non-surgical and non-invasive, the Vitalia treatment does not require any downtime.

No anesthesia – Being non-surgical and non-invasive, Vitalia can be done without anesthesia or any other type of numbing agent or pain medication.

Comfortable, quick and in-office treatments – The entire Vitalia treatment is done in three 30-minute sessions that are two-four weeks apart from each other. They are carried out in-office, discretely and without any additional hassle.

Surgical Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty (Vaginal Rejuvenation)

Dr. Scaffidi is the leading provider of not only noninvasive, but surgical corrections of both enlarged labia and vaginal looseness in the region. These procedures are very safe, but do carry a very small risk of infection. They also require anesthesia called conscious sedation like that used for endoscopies or colonoscopies. While they are outpatient procedures, meaning you go home the same day, within hours of arriving, they do require several weeks of recovery. The discomfort is not significant enough to warrant more than a day or two off from work or regular daily activities, however, there can be no intercourse, tight clothing or aerobic exercise for several weeks until healing is complete.

There is often confusion when talking about labiaplasty because it is refers to several different kinds of surgery. For example, there are at least two different ways to make the inner lips (labia minora) smaller and it is also the term used for reducing either a large clitoral hood as well as for changing the size and shape of the outer lips (labia majora). This is frequently done at the same time as a vaginoplasty (see below).

Reduction of the Labia Minora (Inner, Smaller Lips)

This is the most common form of labiaplasty and it reduces the size and / or length of the labia minora. There are two ways this can be done, and you choose which method to have done based upon what you want these inner lips to look like.

Trim Labiaplasty – Since many patients request that their labia minora be made smaller (usually so they lie well within the outer lips, or labia majora) and that the dark edges be removed (to give them a pinker, more youthful appearance) the trim method is often used. For this, a strip of tissue is trimmed off along the edge of the lips. The new cut edge is then sutured so it will heal quickly and form only a tiny scar along the edge. This accomplishes both desires by making the lips smaller and by removing the thick dark margin; you are left with a pinker, more delicate edge that leaves the labia minora just within the natural folds of the labia majora. The new pinker edge does contain a scar that may be overly sensitive in rare cases.

Wedge Labiaplasty – This procedure makes the inner lips smaller by removing a piece of unwanted tissue from the middle. The cut edges of this ‘V’ shaped wedge are then sutured together so that there isn’t a scar along the edge at all. You then have smaller labia that keep their natural dark margins. Because there isn’t a scar running along the edge, there is less of a chance of oversensitivity. However, if you’re unhappy with the dark margin color and / or thickness of the edges, then this method may not be for you.

Reduction of the Clitoral Hood

This procedure decreases the size of the clitoral hood, which is sometimes so large that it interferes with stimulation of the clitoris and therefore orgasm. This can be corrected by removing a small strip of skin along each side. This surgery is extremely delicate and time consuming and is often combined with labiaplasty of the inner lips.

Reduction of the Labia Majora (Outer, Larger Lips)

Some women dislike the appearance of their labia majora because they are too large or uneven. They would prefer them to have a smaller contour and be more balanced. If these outer, larger lips or the adjacent pubic area, are bulging because of excessive fat to the point of producing an unattractive ‘camel toe’, removal of a portion of the skin and fat tissue an be accomplished in order to create a more natural profile.

Vaginoplasty or Vaginal Rejuvenation

This is a procedure that tightens the vaginal opening and canal which may stretch or lose its tone after childbirth or from aging. Vaginal Rejuvenation reverses this effect. It recreates the vagina to its former state in order to improve intimacy for both partners by allowing more friction during intercourse which many feel heightens sexual pleasure. The vaginal canal itself is actually a muscular tube that can easily be stretched out. Imagine a rubber band that is repeatedly pulled so much that it never gets back to its original form or strength. This is what can happen to the vagina causing it to be loose, weak and saggy. This is a safe outpatient surgical procedure that takes approximately one-hour and recreates the vagina’s natural supports, size and tone. Dr. Scaffidi’s technique has been perfected over more than 20 years and utilizes meticulous surgical techniques to ensure the best result. The best candidate for this surgery is a physically healthy woman with realistic goals. Keep in mind that this is NOT a way to fix an abnormal relationship, but should be used to enhance a normal, healthy one! This is frequently done at the same time as a labiaplasty (see above).

Hopefully, this brief discussion of how the various gynecological aesthetic procedures can improve female intimate wellness has cleared up any confusion you may have had and helps you choose what is right for you. Keep in mind that it is common to combine some or all of the above procedures.
