Even after losing the weight and exercising regularly, you may still struggle with pockets of fat that just won’t budge no matter how many crunches or lunges you do. John Scaffidi, MD, FABOM, FACOG, with offices in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, uses Lipolysis (fat melting) along with Power Assisted Liposuction to help shape your body and get rid of those unwanted pockets of fat. This works well anywhere from your face and neck, body, and all the way down to your ankles. Smartlipo and BodyTite provide the the minimally invasive energy for lipolysis using either advanced laser technology or radio frequency to melt fat away while they enhance skin tightening! This makes the final results smoother, more effective and with less pain and bruising. Body sculpting is a minimally invasive office procedure conducted under local anesthesia. Treatment time varies but usually takes up to three hours. During your treatment, Dr. Scaffidi applies the energy that destroys the fatty tissue which is then gently suctioned away. You will feel very little discomfort during the procedure, but you may feel a little sore afterwards when the anesthesia wears off, much like after a heavy workout. The required compression garment will help ease your discomfort.
Due to the nature of the procedure, you may be advised to take it easy for a day or two, but there are no restrictions and you can return to work the next day if necessary. You should notice an improvement in your shape immediately following your session, with continued improvements as the swelling goes down over the next few weeks. The skin tightening happens more gradually because it is a result of your body reforming your dermal collagen layer. It is generally half done by four to eight weeks and not completed for up to six to twelve months.
Yes, the results from your treatment are permanent as long as you do not have any excessive weight gain. Your body does not ‘like’ to grow new fat cells, it would rather fill up existing ones. Given enough weight gain, though, new fat cells could be formed. Dr. Scaffidi recommends you continue to follow your healthy diet and exercise program to maintain your trimmer look.
