Dr.s Scaffidi and Ailawadi are pioneers in the field of bariatrics. They performed the first outpatient Bariatric surgery in the State of Pennsylvania and, with multiple offices across and surrounding the Lehigh Valley, they have created the largest combined full service medical and surgical weight loss program in the region.  Well over 7000 patients have been treated already with many more being cared for each day.

Dr. Scaffidi received his Bachelor's in Science degree from Lehigh Valley's prestigious Muhlenberg College with honors in both biology and psychology, and was awarded a coveted membership into Psi Chi, the national Psychology Honor Society in 1983. This was followed by a Master’s program in Applied  Human Physiology while he participated in research with both the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Medical school followed at University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ at their leading medical center, Cooper Hospital University Medical Center, where he obtained his medical degree, again with honors. Internship and residency followed at the nationally recognized St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, where he culminated his training by serving as chief resident. During this time he participated in research and published several papers on various topics concerning obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine as well as serving as both the state and national district III representative for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Since then he has been in private practice committed to training other professionals by teaching residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. He has also extensively lectured on multiple topics in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology and bariatrics to physicians, nurses, and the general public, while furthering his own education on a constant basis with the sole purpose of improving others lives. 

Dr. Ailawadi graduated from the renowned Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor’s in Science in Biology. This was followed by Medical School at The Chicago Medical School. Dr. Ailawadi stayed in Chicago for residency at University of Illinois/Mt. Sinai. At Mt Sinai, Dr Ailawadi served as chief administrative resident. Additionally, while at Mt Sinai, he received a grant for research in surgical oncology at the very prestigious Memorial Sloan Keterring Cancer Center. While there, Dr. Ailawadi published a number of papers in the field of surgical oncology and thoracic surgery. Following this, he went on to attend Vanderbilt University Medical Center, one of the top medical centers in the country, to do a fellowship in thoracic surgery. While there, Dr. Ailawadi spent an extraordinary amount of time on the general thoracic service which provided him with extensive experience operating on the both the stomach and esophagus.  Since leaving Vanderbilt, Dr. Ailawadi has spent time in private practice training residents and caring for patients in fields of bariatric surgery, general surgery and surgical oncology.  He has lectured both locally and nationally in his field and he is widely respected as a thought leader.
